KU Leuven ranks consistently in Europe's top-15 universities within the Times Higher Education ranking. Ranks #47 worldwide in the 2017-2018 edition of the same ranking.

In the 2018 QS World University Rankings it occupies the #71 position worldwide, and #21 in Europe.

Leuven: iCapital Award 2018 Finalist.

Leuven was one of the six finalists of the European iCapital Awards contest - promoting and rewarding innovative European cities.

Leuven MindGate, together with the city of Leuven and Leuven2030 applied for the contest with an outstanding dossier.

Six cities entered the final stage: Aarhus, Athens, Hamburg, Leuven, Toulouse, and Umeå. The winner, Athens, won a prize of €1 million. As a runner-up, Leuven received €100 000.

Leuven European Green Leaf 2018

Leuven is the first Belgian city to win the European Green Leaf Award. The award, handed out by the European Commission, recognises the city’s achievements in sustainability and green growth and places Leuven among the greenest and most liveable cities in Europe.
